Free Medical Aid: unfailing generosity for the most deprived of Alaotra Mangoro.

Free Medical Aid: unfailing generosity for the most deprived of Alaotra Mangoro.

From July 1 to 6, 2024, the Fifaliana Indray humanitarian association carried out a major medical mission in the Alaotra Mangoro region of northeastern Madagascar. Thanks to the mobilization of medical volunteers and the generosity of donors, 580 destitute people were able to benefit from free, high-quality care.

For a week, a multidisciplinary medical team of doctors and nurses took turns providing consultations, examinations and treatment to the local population. Despite the fact that only general medicine is currently offered by the Fifaliana Indray Association, the team did their utmost to meet patients’ essential needs.

It’s a mission that’s particularly close to our hearts,” confides Dr Fils, Fifaliana Indray’s Chief Medical Officer. In this remote region, access to healthcare is extremely limited. Many people can’t afford to see a doctor. Our role is to provide them with quality medical help, free of charge.”

And the results are there: in the space of a week, 580 people were able to be cared for and treated. Hundreds of lives saved thanks to the mobilization of volunteers and the generosity of donors. “It’s an incredible experience, full of emotions,” continues Dr Fils. Seeing the gratitude and joy on patients’ faces is the greatest reward of all.”

On the strength of this success, Fifaliana Indray intends to repeat this type of operation in other remote regions of Madagascar, to give as many underprivileged people as possible access to essential healthcare. A wonderful initiative which perfectly illustrates the sense of sharing and solidarity.
